Comfy Cabled Throw MKAL!

I am so excited to be hosting another MKAL! Here are all the details!
Hi Everyone, Let’s party some more! 2020 has not been a normal year by any means! Since we are all still in some form of reduced social interaction or stay at home orders, I think we need another online gathering! Join me for a Comfy Cabled Throw Mystery KAL 2020! It's a mystery with a new block being released each week. Beginning Friday 10/30/20. The pattern is okay for an adventurous beginner to a seasoned knitter! I will be starting off with a very easy cable pattern to get the beginners started on cables. We will have weeks that the cables will challenge the beginners but I am available for questions. Cables are really fun and way easier than they look! We will gather via Zoom every other week to visit and see each other’s progress. We can also share pictures here and chat! I can’t wait to see all your color choices! Please join the Rogue Adventures Fans forum to chat and get the link to the meet ups. Materials: Any worsted weight yarn in any color combination that speaks to you! I am using Shelter by Brooklyn Tweed because there is a huge color selection and the yarn is, well, just fantastic. My test knitter and zoom extraordinaire Jana, is using cascade 220! You can buy new or use up yarn from your stash. Each of the 16 blocks will take approximately 110 yards. I feel like it will be easiest to knit your throw in 1, 4 or 8 colors. I will have a schematic available for you to print and color in your colors. If you choose one color your estimated yardage is 2200 yards (border included). If you choose 4 colors you will need 360 yards of each color (border not included). If you choose 8 colors you will need 240 yards of each color (border not included). Needles: Recommend size is US #8 needles. Finished Size: Each block is approximately 11.5 “x 11.5”. Yours may vary depending on your gauge. With the border your finished throw should measure 52” x 56”. Construction: You will have the option to knit blocks and then seam together or knit blocks together into strips for less seaming. Seaming will be done with mattress stitch. Happy Adventures, Trish

Blended Wedges

My latest design Blended Wedges has been released. I love working with lace weight mohair and silk. I find that it is the perfect weight to blend colors. It is like painting with fiber! I hope you love it as much as I do! Of course I am now working on a few more things. I love it when I get inspired.

Mohair & Silk Addiction....

I have decided that I may have an addiction to silk mohair! I can't help myself, I just keep designing with it! This week I will release a new pattern that uses 6 colors of Sensai by Ito yarns. As I sit here writing this I know that when I head in to work at Close Knit today that I will be shopping for more mohair for the design that just popped into my mind!

Feeling a little anxious today...

I am not normally an anxious person but I am feeling a little anxious and stressed today. The world is in such turmoil right now. I should never wake up and read the news! Between Covid-19, the economy, the President and all his lies, unstable job situations and wild fires near us & family, I am feeling just a tad stressed out. I know there are so many people in worse situations than me and my heart goes out to all of them. Hug and love all your people. I think I might need to look at pictures of furry animals, smell the flowers, drink some tea and knit. I thoght I would share some of those very things with you. Enjoy!
I sure hope you all are feeling better than I am today! Happy Knitting Trish

Chicken Crazy

I have gone chicken crazy. My family bought 8 chicks in the spring and now we have a little flock of hens and I couldn't be happier. It turns out I really love chickens. This is Carole. She is a bit of a pecker...
So in honor of my girls I designed a chicken hat! Introducing Clucking Around. I hope you like it as much as I do. This version is written for DK weight yarn and I am working on a fingering weight version that should be out this week.
As always happy adventures. Trish

Block Party

So this spring when we all went into lockdown due to Covid-19, I decided to design a throw as a mystery knit along. I felt like it would be fun for my students and give them something to knit that they would not need help with. Then I decided to share it with the world at large via Ravelry. Designing the throw and chatting with nice knitters around the world has been really fun during the pandemic. It gave us all something to look forward to every Friday! That said today the last clue was released and the entire pattern is available on Ravelry. I love my throw so much.
I am thinking about doing another mystery throw this winter. Stay tuned! Happy Adventures! Trish

It has been a long time!

Hello again! The world has changed so much in the last 6 months, lots of changes for me and everyone. The biggest one for me was the closing of Knitting Bee. Knitting Bee wasn't just a job or a shop to me, it was a part of my identity. It has taken me a few months to come to terms with the shop no longer existing. I will always be so greatful to Jami and all the Bees for all the years of friendship and love. With the closing of that chapter of my life I have begun a new position at another yarn shop. Close Knit in Portland will be seeing me twice a week! It is a very nice shop with tons of beautiful yarns and I love it so far. Come on over and visit.
This year I will also be focusing more on my designing and pattern writing. I love creating knitwear and I am excited about dedicating more time to designing. Who doesn't like playing with yarn! This year I have also made a commitment to growing as much food as I possibly can.I have always had a little garden but this year we stepped it up. I have also committed to buying as much of my food from local sources as I possibly can. This has led into the conversation at our house of possibly starting a mini farm. We have a big garden and chickens for now but are hoping to buy a few acres in the country in the near future! I look forward to sharing more of my adventures here with you all! Happy Adventures Trish
